Now

What I'm focused on right now.

Updated May 2026. A /now page in the spirit of nownownow.com, current focus, current build queue, and what I'm explicitly not taking on.

What I'm focused on

  • Outreach to warm network contacts about the first embed. The work is scoped. Looking for the right first fit — manual work that should already be software, with the budget to fix it.
  • Validating Bellvue with cold conversations to K-12 IT directors and small-museum tech leads. Specifically, whether the Mac-based architecture is a feature or a blocker, and whether tvOS support belongs on the 2026 roadmap.
  • Finishing the last 10% of Relay so it ships publicly. Real users. Real bugs. Real launch.

What I'm building this month

  • Field Notes, finally setting up a writing surface for this site. First essay: How GoodCraft uses AI.
  • A configured agent for an upcoming embed, with a real escalation path back to me.
  • Tightening the Working Session intake: a paid 90-minute first meeting plus a written set of prioritized recommendations within 48 hours. The qualified entry point to the rest of the services.

What I'm not taking on

  • Net-new client projects before July 2026, the embedded slot is full, and I cap the book at two retainers.
  • Webflow-marketplace work. Script and Weave will sit at their current quality bar until I decide whether Webflow is a real lane.
  • Any work that's really a strategy deck. I build the thing and leave your team able to run it. If it's strategy, I'm the wrong fit.

What I'm reading and watching

  • Derek Sivers on building one good thing at a time. Re-reading How to Live every couple months.
  • Jeff Jarvis on what's broken about the consulting incumbents and what an honest practitioner looks like in 2026.
  • Operator-led product launches in the AI-native ops space. Mostly to learn what not to do.
